This article has great content, however, at first, I wondered where the content was? It wasn't expecting all the images and got lost reading the headings. It took a couple of goes to figure it all out. But once I got past the images and realised that they were the content, I found the article quite helpful. Selina

What's the difference between domain name endings such as .tv and .me etc?

I'm not sure why I would buy these domain names. read more

These are ccTLDs (Country Code Top Level Domain) and refer to the top level domain for a specific country eg .au = Australia, .nz = New Zealand and .us = United States. TLDs (Top Level Domains) are non country specific eg .com, .net and .org Others such as .asia are sponsored TLDs.

This could depend on who you ask or where you look for an answer! .me is the top level domain for Montenegro and .tv is the top level domain for Tuvulu. But these days they are recognised more so as: .tv - often seen as the 'television' domain so sites with this domain would likely include video content or streaming content etc. .me - often used for personal blogs, pages and sites "individualname.me". Can be registered to pretty much anyone anywhere so don't have to have  a business registration etc like you might with a .au name.

You can create your own Domain Name by the Domain Registration service from Tucktail.com .Here they provide domain name you own to your website,Domain Forwarding and Masking, Auto renew keeps your domains, hosting, website builders, and other products in your name and under your control.
Matt AntoninoOwner at High on SEO
If you want a .com, you can register it almost anywhere, such as Godaddy.com If you want a .com.au, you'll need to use a registrar such as http://www.ziphosting.com.au/ You will need a business ABN (they say "related" but realistically, this isn't much of a hurdle as long as you have an ABN.) Once you have a domain name, you'll need hosting. The type you need depends on the type of site you're going to be hosting.

What's the difference between Shared hosting, Virtual Private Server (VPS) and dedicated hosting?

Asked by:

Shared Hosting: In this type of hosting, a single server will have many sites hosted. User can get single hosting solution or reseller package for the shared hosting providers. Eventully eveything this will be hosted in the same server and thus server is  shared with other hosters. This type of hosting is low cost and good for the starters, but server has limitation on resources like cpu / memory per domain hosted. So need to check  terms and conditions before joinning the service. VPS: is a personal server / or vitual server which will be hosted in a machince which may have more VPS server hosted. In this option, user will have own server so lots of freedom on server management, tweaks and custom settings, which are not possible with share hosting. server resources like cpu / memory will be shared with other VPS user in the same machine.  Dedicated server: User with  own dedicated server, which is a single machine with one single server dedicated to user, its is much more similar to vps, but machine resources is not shared with others. So 100% cpu . 100% memory. While in VPS if one of the vps user of the same machine has more cpu constain job, other vps user will have slow performance.

What should I look for in a Web hosting partner?

Asked by:
Phil Joel Director at SavvySME
Some great answers above. I agree totally with Russell's first comment, Great Support, its essential. Yep the other points made are all valid too, infrastructure, no fly-by-nights etc. Recommendations go along way so ask around and get people experiences. I'm not sure I agree with the must be Australian hosted for Aussie websites rule, we have always hosted out of the US and had no issues with speed, load times or rankings, maybe because our name servers are .com.au perhaps. Our host have 24x7 email support and for the few occasions they needed to be contacted they were on the case every time immediately and being based in an English speaking country communication was easy. We have been with our hosting company for around 6 years and have three webservers hosted in various US data centres.

Couple of factors to consider  1) load speed of websites . Google is  concerned about the load speed of websites. If your website takes a longer time to load , it is bad user experience and will also effect your SEO.  2)Hosting a website on a cloud infrastructure will give you a better performance than those hosted on a single server , Cpanel setup 3)Location of the data center , having it locally in Australia is better. Some hosting providers offer SLA and 99.99 % uptime  4) 24x 7 telephone , email support
