I think Leadership is for anyone and everyone - if they want to step into that kind of personal and professional power. I don't mean power over others. I mean power over ourselves and a deep desire to become a better leader in life and business.
The best Leaders I have had the pleasure of knowing over the years, have all practiced these fundamental steps to enhance their Leadership skills and Business success. You can do this too:
- Leaders are Readers - become a voracious reader of everything in your field of expertise and then branch outside of what you know to learn from people with different but equally valuable experiences and knowledge. Dr John F. Demartini says, "you can't stick your hand in a pot of glue without some of it sticking," which is a fantastic philosophy for business and personal success. Read as much as you can.
- Write and Journal your experiences - The late Jim Rohn was a big advocate for writing in a journal. This is a personal practice I have been dedicated to for well over 15 years and it has been invaluable in helping me to remember important revelations, life experiences and collating ideas for further life and business success. I have processed and reflected on difficult work and life experiences, and when I have reviewed where I was at the time of the writing, I have found hidden gems of wisdom and insight that I know use in daily life.
- Listen to audio at every opportunity - Brian Tracy advises Leaders to actively engage in continuing their life and business education by listening to relevant podcasts and audio books etc as this will provide you with an edge for greater success.
One other important thing that I have learned is to model the behaviour and habits of people who are where I want to be in life and business.
Here is a Vitamin for your Mind from the late Jim Rohn, Business Philosopher:
“Life and business is like the changing seasons. You cannot change the seasons, but you can change yourself. Therein lies the opportunity to live an extraordinary life--the opportunity to change yourself.”
Through practicing success habits like learning through reading, writing and listening, we can and do strengthen our self-esteem, our self-worth and our value in the world in ways that are beyond measure.
