I'm full of them...excuses, that is. I have medals for procrastination lining my virtual walls and files full of good intentions cluttering up my cyber life and yet somehow I still find myself getting things done. How is it possible that on one hand I can tick off my list like a school principal and on the other get to the end of a day and have no idea what I've done with it?
My theory is that there are certain elements of my work and life that I LOVE to pay attention to. I devote time, energy and resources because I like what I am doing. But then all my good intentions to do that "other" stuff just keep me weighed down and I go about day to day carrying around this mental junk that gets moldier the older I get!
What's the answer then?
Work out what is clutter and what is gold. Become an eliminator, and start with my own excuses that stop me in my tracks. You know what I'm talking about - "oh, yeah, I really was planning to get that done but I just ran out of time..."
We all have the same amount of time, don't you know?
If we are to be solepreneurs, entrepreneurs, business owners and operators, we have to get our collective heads out of the sand and put one foot in front of the other, moving forward every day. Not just now and then.
Running a virtual business has its perks but it also has some pretty insidious issues that can creep up and sap you of your dreams and outcomes. So it's even more crucial that we take on the Samurai mentality and become our own warriors, guarding our business health like we are guarding the kingdom.
It's time we stopped making excuses, put on our big girl/big boy pants, wiped the crocodile tears and made those phone calls/ sent those proposals and raised those rates (eek!).
Are you with me? I'm right here, on the other side of the screen, rooting for you all the way. I'm your cheer squad. All you have to do is reach out and let me know you need a cheer and you'll get one.
Let's be each other's support group and move forward together, one day at a time.
