The South Australian government announced that businesses with annual grouped wages of up to $4 million will get a 6-month payroll tax waiver to help survive the Covid-19 crisis. If you qualify, you won't have to pay payroll tax from April to September 2020. However, you must still lodge your payroll tax return but no payment is required. For businesses with more than $4 million in annual grouped wages, you may qualify for a 6-month payroll tax deferral. You can apply for this when lodging your payroll tax return. Furthermore, the SA government also made legal amendments for JobKeeper payments to employees to be exempt from payroll tax.
