When is the best time for you to "change tables" in business?
Hey guys,
It happened because I decided to change tables! A term I picked up from Tony Hsieh's book Delivering Happiness. It relates to poker and how the table you're at (the game your playing) can greatly effect your results. Business comes 'TO' me now and I don't have to 'advertise' to get more.
When have you decided to 'play a different game' and it worked out for you? Why do you think it worked?

I have been 'changing tables' all my life and so far so good. I can't see how you can stay at the same 'table' for very long without stagnating. It's a cliche but, "if your not growing you're..."

@Peter Montgomery , I just finished reading that book! What I take out of it is the moto: "chase your passion instead of chase the money".
What I noticed as an entrepreneur, is that when times get tough, there is an urge/anxiety to try and focus on what will make money rather than what is best aligned. In the early stages of my coaching & consulting biz, I took clients that weren't 100 per cent aligned with my values, or hesitated to turned down business. But as time progressed, I felt much more confident to see that the people that stayed were the ones I was overjoyed to work with in the first place. Now I make it a goal to really bring people in that are a great fit. They refer my work to others that are also a great fit, so chosing the right table to play has proved to be a pretty effective choice!
@Scott Brown this book also talks about how to avoid hiring mistakes! Check it out, if you can. "Only hire people you'd happily go for drinks with", Tony Hsieh advises.
