Asked this question - Selling Online

How does one transition to an online store?

I have dealt with a few businesses that have found themselves in this position. All the previous answers offer good advice but the ideal is that your friend already has a website that customers are using - however, I am guessing this is not the case?

The other key is to utilise any previous customer data - again, I presume some sort of CRM which can be leveraged to kick start the new on line business?

If none of this exists then it will be like starting from zero and having to utilise all the social media sites for leverage and also not forgetting some of the 'old fashioned' methods such as networking in the right areas and identifying the target market. Get into schools, mothers groups, day care etc with your brand and product info.

Can our smart phones lower our cultural intelligence?

Hi Cassidy

My concern is that the technology although essential in todays world has made us lazy. Even something as basic as remembering phone numbers is now a dying skill. What will happen to us in thousands of years when we have developed technology to do practically everything for us.

Our cars are even starting to react by themselves - it is scary what might be around the corner in the not so distant future for us all. Problem is that when any of these technological crutches disappears or breaks down we don't have the skills or the memory capacity to replace it because we just let the technology do it all...Peter

Give Less & Get More - or How Not To Confuse Your Potential Client

Give Less & Get More - or How Not To Confuse Your Potential Client Business is hard enough these days - isn't it? So why make it harder! And yet that is what many of us do, let me explain... It is human nature to not want to lose business and in our eagerness to let everyone know just how good we are, and how much we can do for potential clients - well we can bombard the potential client w...

What can I do with a $100 marketing budget?

Hi Tim

All the advice given has merit, but if you need a website you can achieve it on your budget. If you use Word Press their is no charge and you can develop the site yourself - there are lots of instructional videos on YouTube. Even if you have never done it before you can have a decent website (it would cost around $2000 from a web designer) up and running in a day or so.

You can get a domain name for very little and hosting comes really cheap. I have a code for Host Gator which will give you 25% normal hosting packages (if you are interested use pjdsavv813) when you take one of the hosting packages, they are all available on monthly plans so you dont have to commit for long term contracts. This will allow you to have as many domain names as you want for the same hosting cost.

If anyone else wishes to use the code - please feel free.

Once you have this set up you can add pages and even offers, these can be promoted via your free channels such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and the like...

Its a good idea to link these accounts where possible and appropriate to do so. This means you only have to write it once but it appears in several sites.
