I've always been passionate about SMEs and after seeing so many struggle digitally, I founded Marketing Bee. We are Australia's first cloud-based marketing department, providing digital production, social media strategy, web development and everything in between for our clients here and overseas.

How to choose an appropriate media for marketing a business?

Hi Micha

Excellent question!

There is indeed an array of options available for new businesses but although my answer might seem quite unusual I will give you my professional opinion about it and I will tell you what I recommend to our clients.

I think that step one in establishing any marketing structure isn't determining channels (or picking a suitable medium) but rather taking the necessary steps to have a short term and a long term strategy, sound research and a detailed understanding of your target market and opportunities.

This can be done first through a business plan and secondly at a more detailed marketing level - through an effective marketing plan. They come in all sorts of formats but there are best practices in the industry which yield the best results.

Once this plan has been researched and written - implementation can start and channels can be decided upon. Social media, print, website (that of course is a priority), networking, direct marketing and others.

Sometimes your branding might have been done already so your marketing plan comes as the other piece of the puzzle to reinforce your brand and your business goals.

I won't keep everyone for too long but there's my advice - invest in a professionally crafted marketing plan then move to everything else.. in the long term you will recover your investment, never run out of ideas and you know where your business is heading.

Best of luck.

Hi Michael
I can certainly confirm that LinkedIn is a platform you would want to use regularly. We have helped some of our clients increase their database, make connections, get resources and more through LinkedIn. It might take longer to convert those in leads but you need to focus greatly on your niche (depending on your target market and profession).
We get 72% of our leads through networking and social media so it is definitely a huge channel for us.

What are your marketing challenges in the new year?

Hi Peter
Thanks for responding, it's great to hear about your business and thanks for sharing your challenges.
1. Regarding Pt1. understanting the levels of pricing you can place in your business and what your customers are ready to pay is possible with a solid business plan and a thorough marketing plan. Pricing strategies are usually created after market research and positioning are done, both help to establish a level of pricing which is adequate for your services and target market. These can be done through a marketing plan.
2. Going from a normal company/business to a franchise is a complicated and very involved process which would require a lot of planning, research and forecasting and although I would love to give you an exact answer, it is a bit hard to do so without knowing your company, financial goals, structure and more. May be you can send me some links and information at info@marketingbee.com.au and I will see how I can help.
Thanks again for sharing.

How do I create a social media strategy for my business?

Hi Todd
Great question!
I would like to offer you some solid advice ( Marketing Bee specialises in marketing for SME's and we do offer corporate services as well) but I am unable to do so until I know - the type of company we are dealing with, the size, the product/ service, business goals and more.
Creating a social media strategy (or a marketing strategy) that is not based on "marketing for the sake of marketing" requires a vast amount of research and a high level of understanding of what the business is trying to achieve as well as its structure and upcoming business goals. An understanding of its target market is paramount as well and underpins all possible victories.
I would love to give you a hand and feel free to email me at info@marketingbee.com.au. Our first consultation is free of charge and obligation free (in the most terrible situation you can walk away with some good tips and a new friend) but we also have eBooks and other things which may help you in your search for information.
Looking forward to assisting you.
Sharon.

I won't keep everyone for too long but there's my advice - invest in a professionally crafted marketing plan then move to everything else.. in the long term you will recover your investment, never run out of ideas and you know where your business is heading.

Best of luck.

Do you use Linkedin to generate new business?

May I ask more details about your profession and requirements?
Kind Regards

Feel free to add me on LinkedIn (Sha Latour) to connect.
Kind Regards
Sharon

Sharon.
