Is link building dead, not just for SEO but for traffic as well?

I guess, it depends on how you build your link.Quality guest post, blog post so that people link to your site works awesome. Google is now all about content and soon will become a QnA engine. But if you buy thousands backlinks from fiverr, IMO might as well spend the money for quality content.Remember, google's search results is ordered by "integrity points of your website".Hope that helps,Web Design Melbourne

Has anyone built their own website?

Hi,I'd go back to these questions,
what's the purpose of getting a website ?Is it simply because a business must have a website ?Will the website make money for the business (ecommerce) ?Is the website is the business ?How important is the website for the business at this stage ?Those questions, I normally ask when people want to get website from us.If it's simply the idea is "business must have a website", I'd suggest go for DIY website likeWIX, or some sort and use their template. Looks good and save time and money. And later in the future, we can always upgrade to another solution. If it is part of marketing strategy, would be good to put SEO or many marketing strategy in to consideration to drive traffic into the website and convert them into customers. However, some of our clients, they upgraded their websites because the like to be more efficient in some of their business process. In this case, they don't really need SEO.If you really want to know how to build a website and have plenty of time, there are lots of online tutorial. My favorite is www.w3schools.com, and I am sure there are many others on the net. Bear in mind that, all website platforms, wordpress / squarespace / bigcommerce / shopify / wix, etc...the idea behind it, is all the same.Up to this stage, anyone can promote/claim different or new technologies / server languages (.net/php/ruby/phyton/etc), but in terms of website, everything will come back to html/css and javascript. So HTML / CSS / Javascript is the core foundation of a website. Master it.If the website is a very important part of the business then I'd suggest leave it to the expert, that is local (have 1300 number of mobile phone or you can meet them in person), and reliable for long term, and we as business owner can focus on the business. That's what I do with my business too, things that I can afford to escalate to experts, I'd escalate.Hope that helps,Aditya WardhanaWeb Design Melbourne

How to know what's slowing down a Wordpress website?

We normally use:https://gtmetrix.com/http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/Good thing is they summarize what's in "yahoo yslow" and "google pagespeed".As for image optimization, I rely heavily on https://tinypng.com/A CDN will help and as mentioned by Jeff, do not over use custom/web fonts.Hope that helps,AdityaWeb Design Melbourne

Should we add a new domain to our current site or create a new one?

Hi,I personally think the decision would be very subjective. I am hoping my pointers below will help,1. Creating a new site is a hardwork from SEO perspective, it does help by having the site is a sister site.On the other hand, a 'sister' site with reference to the other successful website shows the business is growing and as we all know, people like to be involve with successful business. From SEO site, tho it is hardwork, it will be paid off, where having more than 1 strong websites is very advantages as they can support each other.2. Pointing a new domain to a existing cart, I'd say a faster to boost the new 'domain' and getting the new products off the ground since they will be in your existing successful website. From SEO perspective, I think you won't gain as much as another new site. From customer perspective, they may see another product in the shop instead of new business.Hope that helps,AdityaWeb Design Melbourne

What exactly is a content management system?

Content Management System is a system to manage content of your website.
The system normally in form of website / web application like wordpress. Will you manage the content yourself or delegate to the agency ? It's totally up to you.
When a website built on top of cms, normally to give access to the owner to manage the website themselves. However, some of our clients delegate the job to us.In terms of difficulty, I'd say if you can use this form in savvysme to post questions, then yes, you can do it yourself. It is as easy as that, none of our clients take more than 30mins to understand a cms.
Should you get website with cms ? Yes. Google likes fresh content. Cms definitely help you to cut website management cost to keep your content fresh.
Hope that helps,
