Can anyone suggest the best products to sell online?

You can sell whatever you want online really - but the question is what are you passionate about? What do you care more about than anything because ultimately in 6 months or a year or two years you are going to *hate* the business if you aren't super passionate about the topic. Let's say you open your business. What are you going to be doing in your spare time? What things distract you from work? Make *those* things your business and you'll be happiest. :)

What are the ramifications of using stock images to create a company logo?

When I started my own SEO agency a few years ago I actually knew exactly which "stock image" I wanted. I contacted the photographer directly and paid him a small sum to get the rights to use it as a logo outside of the stock agency. I used it for years, all was good, and no problems. So if you find something right for your business there are definitely ways!

Does either .com or .com.au domain have an advantage? ✅

You will have a hard time ranking .com.au on Google.com and vice versa.  It's possible but unlikely to show up on anything resembling a moderate difficulty keyword.
Second choice domain name if it's available in .com, .com.au and .co.uk is best.  Then you can decide how to proceed on the international sites.  I do this with my own site.  I have .com and .com.au  - my .com shows up on Google.com and my .com.au shows up on Google.com.au
Your rankings will vary greatly across the international versions of Google based on local and international competition, personalized search locations, etc.

Does anyone know which websites actually accept guest posts?

Don't forget to sign up for the BloggerLinkUp, which has great blogs in a variety of niches. I used MyBlogGuest for awhile but it's a lot of sorting to find worthy sites to post on.  Worth a look, though.

Thanks for Sourcebottle Kealey - I'll take a look at that.

What automated platforms or tools to use for social media?

Hi Henrik,

Wendy or another mod can remove this if it's not appropriate but I just *yesterday* wrote a long post about which tools I use to manage Twitter.
http://www.highonseo.com/2013/01/twitter-tools-i-use/
The main thing I do is use Hootsuite to manage scheduling, reading through replies, DMs and basically seeing the "overall" social media I am on.  I use it for FB, Twitter, and G+ mostly.  I am also in the middle of demo'ing SocialMotus for basically the same thing.
I love the Hootlet that lets you auto schedule posts but wish it worked more like Bufferapp.  I would use Buffer if it was an all-in-one solution.  So I'm disappointed on that end.
Hubspot is a great place to start with monitoring your online activities and if you're just interested in some basic analytics, http://www.twentyfeet.com is fanstastic.
The rest of the tools mentioned in my post do other things.  Topsy - great way to see how people are sharing your content even when they don't @you.  I love Tweepi for managing Twitter followers and I wish FB had something similar.
Also, near the end of my post I talk about RebelMouse and how it can make "one" stream of your activities - check that out.  If the link gets removed, just check through my profile and you can find the blog address.  I don't want to spam but I do think it's a helpful link to answer your Q. :)

Does anyone use Pinterest for business?

I use it for a lot of my photography clients and a few ecommerce clients.  It's much MUCH less useful in B2B than B2C.  What I'm finding is that if you understand other social networks, you can understand Pinterest fairly quickly.  Hashtags matter on original pins but not re-pins, follow the top users you can find, comment their stuff and just participate on what interests you.  The more you involve yourself and promote your pins, the more you'll see from it.  At least b2c.

What is a reasonable price for a small business website?

I setup basic Wordpress based sites with pretty much any template/theme for $350.  I know website costs vary from probably $200+ but it depends what you want.  Mine is lower-end pricing because all I'm going to do is setup.  Install WP, install the theme, get the pages where they need to be, install Wordpress SEO and configure that, along with a few necessary and smart plugins and you're off!
Fill it up with content and you have yourself a business website. :)

Digital Marketing

What is the most effective way to drive traffic on a budget?

Short term: social can drive traffic to your site directly.  Sites like StumbleUpon advertising can really *really* drive traffic if you have content that makes people REALLY want to share.  Not good for average or boring stuff - too expensive.  I had a $100 Stumble campaign get a whopping 1000 hits (yawn) and another get almost 14,000 (WHOA) and the difference was what we were sharing.  Make incredible content and then social it.  It works.  Our Twitter Tools blog post was shared over 120 times (according to Topsy.)

Long term, SEO is a "cheap" way to attract visitors - long tail keywording and writing about your niche.  Also, this gives you new content to add to social.  So now we're at social + SEO.
Finally, participate - forums, blog commenting, any niche related groups on FB or niche sites (model/commercial photographers = Model Mayhem, etc.)  People who are genuinely interested will click through your profile to see what you do.  The more you participate, the more people notice you.
If we can help, let me know.

Has Google Adwords become too complicated for SME owners?

Isn't Adwords Express basically what you want?  You probably don't need the full Adwords if you are mostly "choosing a few keywords, writing a few ads and entering your billing information "

Matt Antonino answered this question

Who should a business owner call on for help when it’s “all too late”?

If it's really "too late" maybe your accountant?  Figure out how to close up.
If it's not too late, it depends on your business.

For an ecomm store failing because of low rankings, me.  An SEO or digital marketing specialist (PPC, too.  Faster returns.)
For a brick & mortar store with enough foot traffic but low conversions, possibly a designer or stylist. It just depends on the cirumstances ... vastly different businesses don't require a cookie cutter answer.

How do you get a website indexed by Google so that it appears on Google search engine?

Just to get indexed, fastest way is to get a link on a G+ account.  It'll be hit almost instantly.
Agree with Nick on the rest - get webmasters, submit sitemap.  Pretty easy setup stuff.

What are some of the ways to generate passive income for graphic design students?

The closest to "passive income" you'll likely get is stock sites like Shutterstock & iStockPhoto.  If you want more info in that direction, let me know.  I used to write a popular microstock blog but gave it up because it's not *quite* passive enough for me. :)
