In every business, sales are number's game. You start with how much revenue you want for your business then you work out how many sales you need to do, then you work out how many appointments/meeting you need to setup then you work out how many leads you need, then you work out how many people you need to contact or call. My aim is to help your business improve these numbers so that you get more sales and grow your business.

Is e-commerce a dying industry?

If anything e-commerce is going stronger.  Look at Amazon, Alibaba, Ebay, etc, I'm worried about brick and mortar retailers that sell the same thing those e-commerce sites sell.

What's the difference between using small accounting firms vs big firms like H&R Block?

When you eat in McDonalds Restaurant in Melbourne or in Shanghai, you have the expectation that the Big Mac will taste the same.  In the same way, if you're using a franchise such as H&R Block, you can expect the same level of standard whether you use them in Melbourne or Perth or Hong Kong.  Small accounting firm that is local to one city or a few cities in a country can have a higher level of standards than H&R Block but the key is that you don't know the standard until you engage them whereas if you're already using H&R Block in one city and you open a new business in another city, you can expect the same level of service you're currently getting.

What's the best accounting software for a sole trader without employees?

If you're sole trading or freelancing without employee, you don't have to use accounting software.   You can consider using Excel spreadsheet for your accounting record.  Unless you have a lot of inventory, most of the things you are going to record are purchase orders and invoices and Excel can do all that easily.  You can record your expenses as well.  Any accountant can work with Excel spreadsheet, convert it to financial statements and work out your tax.

Is it necessary to have physical address for online business?

Think of this from your customer point of view.  How can your potential customers differentiate a fraudster website from a genuine website? Does fraudster website normally has a physical address on it?  What would your customer think if they can't find an address on your website?  You certainly don't need a physical address for a website but if are selling something on your website and you want to attract more customers, you should have one.

How would drone delivery help your small business, if at all?

From a delivery point of view, using drone for delivery will provide better security so that you don't have to be home to receive the delivery.  Currently you need to be at home or office to sign for delivery of parcels because leaving parcels in front of the house or unit is not safe as it can get taken or stolen by other people but if drone is delivering the parcel, the drone operator can leave the parcel in a more secure location such as the backyard of the house, or in the balcony in a case of apartment.  This would save time for everyone involved in the process of delivery.  No driving to post office or depot for the receiver and no repeat delivery for the courier.

How to get my name out there?

One quick way to get your company name out is to niche out a segment of the removalist business, this means you specialise and get really good on one (or two) things in the removalist business.  Maybe you can specialise on only moving breakable like expensive china, plate or glassware.  Maybe you can specialise in moving only big stuff that other removalist don't want to move.  Look for that one thing you want to be known for in the removalist industry and stick to it.   If you get that good on that one thing,  other removalists would even give you business because they can't do what you do.

How will your business be affected by interest rate rises?

As we don't use leverage in our business it doesn't bother us at all.  Mortgage interest rate is another story though.

What margins should I put on my products?

Easy way to price your goods is to compare it to competitions. Research your competition and find where you are on scale compared to them in terms of the quality of your products. If you're product is better, price it more than competition, and vice versa. As long as the sell price is more than double of your cost, you are doing fine. Adjust price as you go.
