Now, I'm not a designer of any sort, I have not studied it in school or uni, and the only reason that I may be better at it than most people, is because I love designing things in my spare time. 

My lack of formal training also means that I rely on a lot of pre-built tools to do what I need to do. So when I'm coming up with preliminary concepts, I rely on these apps developed by professional designers to tell me what looks good. I also get extremely excited when I discover a useful design website - almost giddy.

Today I want to reccomend to you one such "site". This website is basically a catalouge for different colour schemes that people have used or that have been discovered on the web. The website is called www.colourlovers.com and like it's name suggests, it's for people that love to play with colours :)

This website will help you generate ideas and decide on colour pallets and themes for your business. I use this website for a variety of things such as:

• My website colours
• Colours I want to use on a banner
• Themes for info-graphics, and other informative graphics.
• Logos and branding mock ups

This tool, of course, doesn't negate the need for a designer to be involved. However it can help you communicate with your designer more effectively and save a lot of time and money on changes and misunderstandings. 

Giving examples is the best thing you can do for a designer when you trying to communicate the concept that you want for your business.

If you a favourite colour or an official company colour, you can even search one of your favourite colours and then find out what pallets will work with that specific colour.
